Despite rising national debt levels President Obama has just proposed a $4 trillion budget that the GOP has called a “pipe dream.” Perhaps Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said it best:
“President Obama promised… ‘ideas that are practical, not partisan. Unfortunately, what we saw this morning was another top-down, backward-looking document that caters to powerful political bosses on the left and never balances. Ever.”
Obama wasn’t only facing criticism from the right, either. Maya MacGuineas, president of the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, had this to say:
“Failing to address the drivers of the debt will ultimately undermine the president’s other priorities. The focus on promoting investment today will do little good if our massive debt is choking the investments of tomorrow.”
